Feast Festival is Adelaide’s annual LGBTQIA+ arts and cultural festival, celebrating queer creativity, community and expression each November. The organisation approached me looking for a brand identity that could feel bold and recognisable while remaining flexible enough to evolve across multiple festival seasons.

The solution centred around a distinctive flamingo icon – a playful yet symbolic choice that nods to queer culture while offering a visually striking focal point for the festival’s communications. Confident, expressive and unmistakably flamboyant, the flamingo became the anchor of the identity, giving Feast an instantly recognisable visual marker that could carry through several years of campaigns.

While the core icon remained consistent, each festival season introduced a refreshed colour palette and graphic treatments, allowing the brand to feel new and energetic each year without losing recognition. This flexible system helped balance continuity with excitement, an important consideration for an annual arts and cultural event that relies on building anticipation with returning audiences.

Across the four years of collaboration, the brand was rolled out across a wide range of touchpoints including the festival poster, program guide, website reskin, social media assets and advertising campaigns across both print and digital platforms. The result was a bold, celebratory identity that reflected the spirit of the festival while providing a cohesive visual framework for one of Adelaide’s most recognised cultural events.
